I thought about it for soo long and I changed my mind so many times, but I do not regret anything! 🙂
Yes, I bought the N8, the first thing I’d like to say is THANK YOU ALL because it is that 20% donated by all of you which helped me buy it…and THANKS to a person in particular who donated MOST of the left sum to help me get this N8, and make my hobby, my passion, and my “career” go on 😉
I bought a used N8, but it’s perfect as a new one 🙂 and it’s blue! so freaking awesome! 🙂
So the time has come for me to start a new adventure… 🙂
I WON’T STOP SUPPORTING i8910 IN THE NEAR FUTURE, SO ALL i8910 OWNERS CAN BE ASSURED THAT I’LL BE HERE TO HELP THEM IN ANY CASE, I THINK AT LEAST UNTIL CHRISTMAS 🙂 😉
About the N8: guys, it’s soooo good!! 🙂 I also tried the Acer Liquid E, an Android device with 512Mb RAM, but you know what, I don’t like android, AT ALL. This is the feeling I had last year when I first tried an android device, and this is the feeling I have now, after I have spent one week playing with it on froyo 2.2…Android is not mature enough! Yes it has lots of apps, it has a good market, it has got lots of plugins and widgets…but it fails to give you that feeling of “wow, damn I feel so happy with this phone in my hand”… Instead I was always going like “damn I don’t like how the kinetic scrolling is handled…damn why does the menu lag every FIRST scroll? I thought everything was more fluid in Android…but it’s not…” and all things like that…
Instead that kind of “wow” feeling is what the N8 gives to you!
Menus are fluid (not like S^1), the gallery is SUPERB, I mean, SUPERB!!! And the haptic feedback is so well made (in android it sucks)!
I like everything of it! Even the sound and vibration it makes when you’re typing on the keyboard! It really makes you feel proud of having it! 😀
Photos are wonderful and videos are amazing (definition is much better than i8910, I won’t even comment the audio difference 🙂 )!!
I bought it last week, but I didn’t want to shout it as soon as I bought it, because I wanted to play a little bit with it before telling you I was going to support the modding scene around the N8, and tell you my opinion about the N8 🙂
Unfortunately we’re not able to flash the N8 with modded firmware as of now…so we’re stuck at this point…but I hope some new flashing tools will be made available, to let the fun begin! 🙂
So, hyperx has the N8, I have the N8, you’ll probably think that we’re going to have the same casual war once every two weeks…
but I think something is going to change this time 😉 soon 🙂

HHmm there is one thing i really need to comment about your android statement.
You cant compare the acer Liquid E with a phone like the htc desire HD.
its like comparing the samsing i8910hd with a samsung star.
the hardware is diffrent,

Android is fluid on my htc , i dont know what you did with your android phone but your wrong about that, the htc is even faster then the iphone, the samsung galaxy with froyo 2.2 is fastest phone and has same specs as the htc besides the camera.

Lag in every first scroll? i dont have that.
I so want to send my htc to you and let you test it because your your wrong about things here…
if you want to test android to compare to N8 then you need to get high end device and not test it on a cheaper phone.
I still have ervery day a WOW effect on my htc, it is just so fast and smooth , it has everything and it works without any problems, it doesnt need to be modded it just works, ok maybe the camera can be a bit better but it still makes good pics and video’s.
But i wish you all luck with the N8 and coding 😀

Alla fine l’hai preso l’N8 😀 Già si trova usato? Pensa te ;D
Comunque è un ottimo telefono, ma è la fotocopia dell’Omnia HD in versione (logicamente) migliorata e più fluida (soprattutto nel lettore musicale e nella galleria). Io avrei atteso l’uscita di un Acer Liquid Metal, che lo vedo molto promettente (anche se le foto ed i video degli Android sono ancora non al top).
Alla fine al nostro Omnia HD, oltre all’USB on the Go impossibile da implementare, per essere paragonato ad N8 manca solamente una ritoccatina ai video (c’è ancora un pò di rumore video e l’audio è sempre a 16KHz..mentre tutti i Nokia campionano a 48KHz), magari un FlashLite più aggiornato del 3.0, e qualche compatibilità in più con le applicazioni/giochi del Symbian^3.
Comunque buono smanettamento anche con l’N8 😉 E complimenti per la scelta del colore, secondo me il più bello 🙂

wow…it hasnt been a month (i guess) since you wrote how symbian doesnt have future/ you dont want N8 etc. but now you bought one…I admire your and Hyper’s work, but it is obvious that you copy each others work, do what the other does…For example, Hyper wrote he will be releasing Swype you said you are already working on it, i believe you were but i think that reminded you how much you love to compete with Hyper that you bought N8…What makes me a little sad/ mad is that you are saying you will stop supporting i8910 (after christmas, or maybe even before that…)
About Symbian: I still think all those things, I know that symbian is probably dieing soon, but it’s just that it works as I want it to…I wanted to change OS for many reasons…but Android disappointed me, as it already did in past, so I came back to Symbian…
About swype: I started working on it may days ago but I wanted it to be a surprise! But since hyperx wrote about that on his website I had to do that too, to avoid being called the one who’s copying things, since I AM NOT, and I have always made almost every new mod without the help of none!
About the fact that I love to compete with hyperx: I hope you are joking!! 😯
Both me and hyperx suffer from this situation, the only one gaining positive things here are the users (you and the others…) even though new mods bring some donation, and that is something every man likes ❗
Although I agree that this competitiong pushes us to develop things at a faster pace, you have to know that
I HATE ALL THOSE WARS AND ATTACKS, and do not push me to say more about them.
HYPERX (AND THE MONOPOLY WHICH WAS GROWING UP AROUND HIM) WAS No.2 REASON FOR WHICH I WANTED TO LEAVE SYMBIAN!!!!!!!

I didnt say you were the copier, when you were in the phase of releasin n2o4, that was the time i8910 got the more support, mainly because of you..Hyperx copies some of your work, you copy some of his…If you say so (about Symbian^3)…I will never ever buy a symbian phone again :D..I wish you had bought N900, it is capable of running 2 OS’s now i guess -the ones Nokia will start to support after Symbian dies, they are already suppoting, but its not as much as Symbian i guess…What makes Symbian bad to me is that every Symbain phone looks so similar – i mean their UI-..my friend has a N73 as a secondary phone, and its charging/signal bars, menu type, clocks etc. look similar to mine and mine is way too much expensive and UI is so bad :D…Thats why i will be heading to Android, Android 3.0 (2.3?) most porbably -when it comes out- would be great to see you modding android..too bad :)…Anyway, i say again, I’ve always admired your work and thank you for all you’ve done…What made me sad is that you said you will be stopping support for our beloved i8910 :)…
I need the money from i8910 to start studying something else 🙂 probably Win phone 7, together with S^3 🙂

Ciao faenil, oltre ad esternarti i miei complimenti per l’ottimo acquisto anche se, tutto sembra fuorchè usato, sono contento che quel feeling che ti ho descritto qualche settimana fa in pm sia stato percepito anche da te rispetto alla versione precedente di S.O. e indipendentemente da quest’ultimo aspetto, esteticamente fa la sua figura qualunque sia il colore! Spero che inizieranno presto gli smanettamenti e, dalla mia, per migliorarne un pò l’esperienza d’uso, sicuramente avrai notato su ipmart il mio piccolo pack senza pretese che, almeno con l’aumento della cache del browser rende la navigazione di default abbastanza tranquilla. Rispetto all’s60v5 ho notato che sono state implementate di serie alcune chicche da CFW, prima tra le altre la possibilità di ricevere i files via bluetooth in una cartella particolare della mass memory. Comunque spero che ci saranno presto dei tools che ci permettano non solo di hackerarlo e di accedere alle cartelle di sistema, ma anche di permetterci di editare un bel CUSTOM!!! A presto, Alfonso

Ti volevo solo far presente che, secondo il mio modesto giudizio, tu hai le capacità di realizzare il porting del Symbian^3 sull’OHD. Chiunque ci riesca, perchè è di sicuro possibile, la tua fama nel mondo del modding sarà enorme. Pertanto datti da fare e non lasciare che a compiere questo piccolo miracolo sia la tua controparte tedesca!

Faenil Cazzo! Dai un’occhiata al sito di Hyperx e dimmi tu se è il caso di dover stare li a pendere dalle labbra di quel ragazzino permaloso. Io sono stato sempre un fan tuo e suo e vi ho sempre supportato e difeso dalla massa di coglioni che non hanno nulla da fare se non accendere flame inutili e dannosi. Perciò datti da fare e facci sognare, le donazioni arriveranno!

Secondo me è un perfetto idiota. A parte che tutta la mandria di pecore che lui chiama la sua ‘community’ è piena di flamers e trollers che nn hanno niente da fare e il 90% dei commenti che si leggono sono tutto fuorché produttivi. Sfido chiunque a trovarmi un blog del genere di un altro cooker. Seconda cosa, è da un sacco di tempo che gli si dice di limitare il posting ai soli utenti registrati come ben ha fatto Andrea da un pò di tempo a questa parte e lui non lo fa, anzi quando ad esempio qualcuno posta sotto il nome di faenil o Fevves (tanto per citarne qualcuno), che sono a mio parere due persone cordiali e disponibilissime, non perde occasione per replicare e dimostrare a tutti gli altri che leggono che lui è “superiore” (..ma fammi il piacere!). Skype sarà mai possibile montarlo sull’OmniaHd? Monto al momento una versione moddata per uno specifico operatore, e va bene, ma se mi serve il wireless o cambiare gestore, si vanifica tutto 😥 , sapresti dirmi come mai nessuno è riuscito a moddare il .sis della Nokia sul nostro? 🙄

It’s understandable that support for i8910 will end, it’s old now compared to all the newer/better phones. Besides, i can’t see the need for anything more, n204 works perfectly with no bugs. Thanks for all your hard work on the firmware which have made the i8910 so much better. Oh, and thanks for always being so polite in your posts and not losing your mind!
BTW, what’s this about the S^3? Is everyone joining forces or something? I still don’t see the fuss over N8, the hardware seems similar to i8910. Maybe once i use it i will understand 😆

usa la versione della 3, che fa delle chiamate ad un numero cellulare, che in realtà è un server che ti gira la chiamata al tuo amico skype…
un marchingegno complicato, lascia stare perchè non è skype, passa per chiamate cellulari e poi sono convertite a skype
Suppongo che come operatore ha la 3 e usa Skype per la 3…

Uso la 3 🙂 , non volevo fare promo , in effetti si appoggia a una rete a se (mi indica anche il numero cell quando parte una chiamata Skype) e funziona perfettamente, ma il può limite è quando va in roaming o non c’è segnale radio. Stanno togliendo ovunque il supporto, eppure su Ovistore qualsiasi Nokia può eseguire il download e addirittura videochiamare, mentre noi non ah possiamo permetterci neanche la chat 🙁 , eppure apparentemente il nostro cell è di gran lunga superiore a molti altri , boh!
