Hi guys 🙂

here I am again, asking for suggestions about the new firmware I’m making for i8910!

I have just finished the December exams, so now I have some time to dedicate to i8910…

Is there anything you’d like to see realized on i8910? anything that would make your life easier? 🙂

But before doing that, read here to know the things I CAN’T DO! ^^

– SKYPE, VOIP CALLS, VOICE DIALING, SPB SHELL BY DEFAULT (I contacted SPB guys, I’m a betatester there, and they told me they don’t want their software to be included in custom firmwares), BETTER VIDEO SOUND RECORDING, KINETIC SCROLLING IN STANDARD VIDEO PLAYER,  FLASH PLAYER FOR OPERA BROWSER, HOMESCREEN FROM N8, CALL RECORDING,…

    What I think would be some nice additions to the i8910 ( if possible ) are :
    -romanian language
    -having the ability to choose exposure time
    -the ability to change the songs with the volume buttons ( maybe possible now with QT ? )

    1) che il telefono salvi le foto nello stesso orientamento in cui vengono scattate (nella galleria sono sempre ruotate di 90°)

    2) eliminare il ritardo nell’apertura delle cartelle in cui ci sono tante applicazioni

    spero che riuscirai a fare qualcosa per il primo punto perchè a mio parere è una cosa molto fastidiosa..cmq grazie ancora per tutto il lavoro che stai facendo per noi

    spero che gli esami siano andati bene e mi fa piacere che ti si messo al lavoro sulla N2O5. Certo è che chiederti nuovi aggiornamenti e features è davvero arduo. In pratica con la tua ROM e con l’HX pacher che la velocizza e la rende compatibile ai Nokia, abbiamo quasi raggiunto il top.
    Naturalmente tutto è migliorabile ma è anche chiaro che miracoli non se ne possono fare.
    Dunque, vediamo cosa si potrebbe aggiungere o migliorare:
    A)Miglioramenti –
    1) alleggerire la ROM velocizzandone i menù, solo se ciò non influisce sulla precisione e sensibilità della stessa (che è una delle caratteristiche migliori);
    2) migliorare ulteriormente la gestione della batteria;
    3) integrare l’hxpacher (col permesso di Hyperx). Del resto anche lui ha utilizzato alcune delle tue features;
    4) migliorare la gestione dei contatti, quei pulsantoni sono ridicoli e scomodi su due pagine.

    B) Aggiunte –
    1) un utente PNHT (Falkomen) sta realizzando una hs con flash che emula quella dell’N8. Magari potresti contattarlo e chiedergli se te la fa inserire nella N2O5;
    2) integrare flash lite 4.0 e far si che funzioni con opera (ma è possibile?);
    3) è possibile integrare un gestore della posta in HTML?
    Lo so che magari chiedo molto, ma se raggiungi anche uno o due di questi target renderai l’OHD al livello (o anche meglio) degli ultimi terminali.

    So che è solo un dettaglio grafico, ma una cosa che non mi è mai piaciuta dell’omnia è l’effetto utilizzato per “passare in secondo piano” gli elementi del menu (es. parte alta dello schermo premendo sul tasto opzioni nel menu). Nei nokia la parte in secondo piano è scurita, nell’omnia viene applicato un filtro bianco\grigio. Spero di essermi spiegato :mrgreen:

  12. In my opinion, new firmware should be fast – light. There should not be to many “fireworks” but only nice icons etc, and many good mods like cpu overclocking, etc…

    -Change a songs on shaking….
    -2 Gallery’s one for pics from the camera and one normal gallery….
    -make the OS more faster….
    -.mkv support ,make some codecs for .mkv files support….
    -press and hold option ,like mark,remove,re-arrange icons…

  14. -TV-OUT improvement – better tv-out quality, smooth pal picture (not jagged images with rough edges. to be like in ntsc mode), changeable aspect ratio, black bared picture (not stretched)
    -subtitles support through tv-out
    -better flash player for playing .flv files

  15. I have a handsfree wire extension which can control music and answer call (volume up, next song, pause etc)
    The handsfree is working fine with other phone (nokia x6 and ipod touch), but not with i8910
    Can find a way to solve this? I think this is THE THING that needs urgent attention.

  17. I think what you need for this firmware (assuming it will be your last for the i8910) is to allow access to all buttons and options for the phone. For each user to be able to access all options for the camera, video camera, video player and audio player as well as rotation sensitivity and backlighting, etc. No more greyed out buttons! If I want anti-shake when recording a video, then let me be able to turn it on or off for example.

    Also a few speed options would be very good, really fast rotation, landscape and portrait typing options, make all keyboard options available so to allow people like me with big fingers who type fast and don’t like small letters to try and hit accurately, or to just use predictive texting in portrait but change to a full keyboard when rotated to landscape. Make the phone know what I last had it set at and stay that way.

    You are a hard worker and I appreciate all you have done for this wonderful phone. Merry Christmas mate!!!!

    le richieste (se possibili) sarebbero:
    – Overclock (lo reputo fondamentale);
    – La fluidità (ad esempio quando si clicca sul tasto “Opzioni” è molto “scattoso”)
    – Homescreen in flash (Facoltativa non indispensabile) (BlueSpectrum);
    – Effetti Kastor più veloci possibili (che va a riprendere l’aspetto della fluidità);
    – Integrare la tastiera DayHand (by Criskelo) (a me piace molto ed uso sempre quella);
    – Togliere tutti i programmi robaccia preinstallati da Samsung (Smartsearch, roadsync, ecc..);
    E ripeto la cosa più importante è la fluidità.
    Se poi mi verrà qualcosaltro in mente lo poesterò.

  19. If it’s possible to strip from XM5800 sound options for profile rings etc (you know, effects like wide surround etc) and also if it’s somehow possible to see deeper into XM5800 for ringing through headphones, but I’m afraid it’s not possible at all. Asking can’t hurt though.

    As for the rest I hope new Faenilator should cover the most of the tweaking stuff, but I do want to ask if you can implement Web ID changer aside of Phone ID changer through CRE files as it’s most convenient way.

    Also, I would like to ask you if it’s possible to substitute original font with more nicer but different font which should be fully compatible with languages and localizations (aside Chinese, Hebrew and some others that use particular writing tables). What I had in mind is font named Klavika.ttf as I think it should have almost all tables (weights 715KB) and it’s rather nice font. If you need to inspect it, I can send it to you in no time.

    Also, I do hope the default theme is to be what I think is going to be so phone will be blazing fast, but do consider to ask author to do a mod for Media Player too via mif files, as we can have that skinned too, aside of Radio app, Real Player icon and every other element in there. Media Player totally skinned would indeed be nice 😀

  21. N2o3 is perfect, the only thing i miss is the ability to change phone id to n97 to download n97 apps in ovi store! Further N2o3 is perfect, I have from when it was released and it’s working perfect till now, no reflashes required as with previous other custom roms, not your custom roms ofcourse 😉

    -C6/Symbian^3 Dialer…su qualke forum dovresti trovare qualcosa
    -C6/Symbian^3 Swype to unlock, e per la risposta delle chiamate (inclusa anche negli ultimi fw del 5800)… http://forum.dailymobile.se/index.php?topic=37269.0
    -Qualche opzione in piu in faenilator
    -Lo stesso tema della v11….ahahhah so che probabilmente dirai di no…ma lo dico xke l ho moddato io 😛
    -Possibilità di instllare Flahlite 3.1…per chi usa le apllicazioni e giochi in flash è fondamentale…xke solo la 3.1 utilizza l accellerometro
    -Eliminare il ritardo nell apertura delle cartelle molto grandi 😕
    -Rompatcher+ 2.4
    -WDR ON di default…..oppure dicci che paramentri toccare in “be9” per averlo attivo di default
    -Overrclock…ma già so come risponderai

    SE RIESCI A METTERE TUTTO QUESTO TI FACCIO UNA STATUA….

    PRENDITI TUTTO IL TEMPO NECESSARIO…ANCHE QUALKE MESETTO…NESSUNO TI CORRE DIETRO!!! 😉

  23. Effettivamente anche a me (e molti altri) piacerebbe tantissimo C6/Symbian^3 Swype to unlock, e per la risposta delle chiamate (inclusa anche negli ultimi fw del 5800). 🙂

    se possibile quando si tiene premuto il tasto front dx avere l’opzione “riavvia telefono” piuttosto che “blocco telefono”sarebbe utile.E poi credo che l’overclock ormai lo vogliano un po tutti.E degli effetti kastor da WOW! per il rsto concordo compratevi un portatile!

    Actually I do not feel entitled to ask for anything because i do not contribute to any donation for your hard work, but when I can I’ll do it. So, here are my suggestions but do not know if is possible to add in N2O5:

    – Golden Python pack;
    – Keep the precision theme;
    – Application of cleaning, the type of NULDEL or GForce or other similar;
    – Ovi appstore and ovimaps;
    – hardware buttons to control music player;
    – A shortcut exclusive to access feeds\RSS in browser native;
    – The file BI.o0001 of theme ‘FINGER USE’ installed in c:\ , to be possible to modify the shortcuts.

    But mostly …

    Wishing a year 2011 with great success for you 🙂

  32. Ciao faenil, una cosa che mi piacerebbe molto sai quale è? Alla ricezione di un sms, mostrare l’effettivo orario di invio e non quello di ricezione. Mi spiego meglio: una persona mi invia un messaggio alle 15.30 ma io ho il cell spento e lo riaccendo alle 16.00.. Appena mi arriva l’sms l’orario che visualizzo sono le 16.00, ma a me cosa interessa? Sarebbe molto più utile ed interessante mostrare l’effettivo orario in cui l’sms è stato inviato. Col programma Free-iSMS c’è una utilissima opzione chiamata ‘service center time’ che se abilitata fa questo lavoro.. Io credo che non sia una cosa impossibile da fare e credo anche che l’orario sia memorizzato nelle proprietà del file contenente l’sms una volta ricevuto..

    – A non-customizable now playing window for music player because it looks bad with some themes.
    – The original 4 white samsung menu icons.
    – Swype and animated wallpaper for non-kinetic menu firmware.

  34. I feel that working alternative unlock application is needed. Currently, nUnlock and mazelock is available for alternative, but users have to double unlock (first the physical button, then the application).

    What I am trying to say is that it would be good if you can tweak either of those two, or manage to write an app that would make the physical button unneeded for unlocking the phone.

    I know this is too much of a request, but having to press the unlock button which is situated awkwardly and pressing it everyday is becoming irritating.

    – foto panoramiche a max risoluzione
    – contatti preferiti come nel 5800 cn tanto di immagini
    – id changer e overclock come nella HX
    – conversation che va a sostituire totalmente il sistema symbian dei messaggi
    – registra filmati da youtube
    – integrare già un navigatore satellitare (X evitare lunghissime guide)
    – in “nuovo messaggio” l’elenco dei 10 numeri + usati

    spero tanto che tu ci riesca

  36. Hi Faenil. Thank you for all your good work. It has turned my i8910 into a new phone! And the quality and speed of your fw shows how much effort and care you put into your work.

    – In terms of anything more, it would be great if it was clear which QT apps work or not. For example, I was finally able to get the WordPress app to work but not the Wellness diary, or Situations. I realise these are Beta apps, so it’s not too important.

    – Is it possible to have the default setting for messages and email on the e:/ drive? Anything to save more of that precious c:/ memory!

    – I use the rss feeds built into the symbian browser – is there a better rss feed reader?

    – photos – when using the camera and then using Quick View, the default settings seems display images in a strange order (alphabetical?) – you then have to change the “Sort” by manually to “Time” order

    le mie idee sono: – implementare come detto sopra il swype to unlock e dialer
    – ho visto che si puo mettere la home del nokia c6 sul 5800 e ti chiedo se si possa mettere anche sull HD!
    – overclock
    – maggiore velocità in generale (anche se è ottima anche adesso)
    – mettere le cartelle dei messaggi a “conversazioni” tipo chat
    e tutto ciò che di bello ti possa venire in mente!!

Faenil…ciao good news….skype works on i8910 now on my i8910 maybe skype change something..or is it that mine is a n204 with id n97 with hxpatch and super internet with 3 all I did was download the software from skype’s webpage with phone and then installed it …i managed to chat but not sure about talking with it…happy new year

    p.s skype version i downloaded skype_S60_5_0_v_1_5_0_12.sisx

  42. In N2o5 I’d like to see:
    – 3D Task Manager (In N2o3, which I use, I couldn’t run this)
    – Nav3D (swipe left to get to menu)
    – Faster screen rotation
    – Rotation in video player (if possible)
    – Maybe some overclocking
    You could add FunFlash in not-trial version (this app lets you to control screen and flash and make our phone a torch).
    I tried to find your fun page on facebook, but there isn’t anything like that. I think you should make it.

      Swipe up or down to get to menu. Swipe left or right to get to another desktop(like in avila).
      I’ll write if I would have more ideas. Sorry for mistakes.

    2. And maybe music player like 360Ting with working equalizer. That would be nice, couse sometimes, like when I’m listening music in bed, it’s too loud. So that or bigger volume regulation.

    First, thank you for all you’ve done for our i8910 =)

    Maybe my asking are a little optimist but if we don’t look for optimist thinks why make a new firmware ^^

    What i like to have :

    – we have a capacitive touchscreen so is it possible to make it multipoint ?
    – can change the phone ID (n97, vivaz,…)
    – a better battery life (a button for extend it ?)
    – a new version for ovistore which work
    – spb mobile shell but you can’t :p
    – a better possibility to change volume because with some application (tunewiki to name one) the sound is too loud with volume on 1
    – a better compatibility with nokia’s appz if you can
    – possibility to active or not swype without unistal it
    – symbian^3 in future ??

        Comunque chiedevo anche se puoi mettere già Opera 10.1 installato come browser predefinito. Tutti sappiamo che quello di Default è una cagatina. xD

        2. E poi un’altra cosa.
          Quando il telefono è bloccato, mi piacerebbe che la scritta “per sbloccare, tenere premuto il tasto di sblocco” fosse tolta. E’ molto brutta a mio parere.

      1. Però secondo me invece che usare una patch che deve sempre stare attiva (quindi ciuccia ram) è meglio toglierlo proprio dal firmware così non ciuccia ram. 🙂

    grazie per tutto il lavoro che stai facendo.Tutto quello che hanno detto gli altri lo condivido , sinceramente pensavo che qualcuno riuscisse a portare symbian 3 sul samsung hd ma rimara’ solo un sogno.Una modifica invece che non ho trovato un sitema e’ la possibilita’ di modificare il firmware per fare in modo che quei programmi che funzionano da segreteria telefonica digitale possano funzionare.Penso che lo saprai meglio che me che samsung nel firmware ha messo un blocco per impedire la registrazione delle chiamate ricevute .Puoi riuscire in questa impresa ? Sarebbe penso a molti utilissima ….. Grazie Ciao buon proseguimento

  46. Non è una fesseria. La RAM deve elaborare anche l’operazione di quella patch e anche se occupa solo mezzo mega o quello che sia comunque ne occupa (tutto fa, come si dice da noi). E dato che dovrebbe essere il più veloce possibile, non vedo perchè SPRECARE memoria virtuale con mille patch attive, quando alla fin fine basta togliere dal firmware la funzione e siamo a posto.

  48. Ecco una cosa che mi è venuta in mente, secondo me molto utile.

    Se è possibile, sarebbe bello che quando il telefono impiega più tempo del solito nel eseguire i processi, sarebbe opportuno mettere la barra di caricamento (così non sembra che il telefono sia scattoso).
    Tipo nell’accendere il bluetooth ci mette un pò e non c’è barra di caricamento.
    Oppure nell’aprire la galleria, sms, cartelle, ecc.. 🙂

      – change id -> what do u mean? we can change most of the ids…

  50. Well, very late for wishes, but now I’ve tested all HyperX v6 to v11 and Taylors v7. Now I know, what I’ll in all CFW missing and what is good. (And my last wishes you can’t make.)
    I can wait! If your n2o5 comes later, but stable as n2o4 and better/ with more features – that’s OK!

    a) In the most other screens except the homescreen (all from phone and in many apps) the left button start the dialer keys. But in the homescreen it start the last calls -> I need not this, I need the dialer everytime.

    b) Some homescreens have 4 buttons below (dialer, contacts …), other have only 2 buttons.
    In homescreens with 2 buttons the acces to dialer is impossible if: see my point a).
    Change this allways to the 4 buttons or make a option in the Faenilator to switch this setting for all (original) homescreens to the one or other button set.

    If you can make a) and b): move the last calls to the 4 buttons to replace the dialer there. This would be the best solution.

    c) The Samsung Widget homescreen has 3 screens, but switching it is poor – only with the 3 symbols above. Use 3DNav in this home to slide into this 3 screens, instead to menu and (photo) contacts.

    d) for users with your n2o4: Make a update to n2o5 possible instead a full reset and full flash.

    e) If you find a way: volume in player/system set to 20 or 30 steps. (PowerMP3 have 100 steps, but this is the next extreme, too much.)

    f) Change the phone ID as in HXPatcher.
    g) Change/Fix the orientation as in HXPatcher. (Fix some to Portrait is very nice for me.)
    h) Change the 3DNav Left/Right feature to other apps as in HXPatcher.
    i) Change the Speed as in HXPatcher.
    OR
    Put (only) the needed files in your CFW to use the HXPatcher with autorestore his settings after reboot. (Rasputin, user in http://www.usp-forum.de has modded the HXPatcher to install and use it with n2o4.)

    Well, now I will reset my phone and go back to n2o4 now, after I tested 7 Firmwares on it. Thanks for your great job!
