This post is about a new mod which I have just finished and tested πŸ˜‰

It will obviously be available in the coming i8910 firmware, n2o5!

What is it about?

Well, we all know the problems we’ve always had with sis packages…there has always been the need to edit packages, wait for modded packs made by expert users, each time a new version of a software came out…

why all this mess? Because softwares which are not samsung’s (Nokia’s, SonyEricsson’s) are signed with high level security certificates by Nokia and SonyEricsson…

this means that if you want to install a Nokia or SE software which updates the system files, such as ovimaps (AudioSrv,..) , FlashLite, Java, fring, you need to edit the package and use the unsigned version of it, because otherwise you wouldn’t be able to install it. Or some other times you could get the infamous “COMPONENT IS BUILT-IN” error message, which we all hate (don’t you? πŸ™‚ )

Well, this problem has not come to an end thanks to the new mod I have created?

What was the solution of previous modders to this problem?

HyperX-like: “Let’s replace samsung certificates with nokia’s certificate, to be able to install nokia’s packages”, Β in this case you lose samsung’s certificates and you gain nokia’s ones, it’s not bad, but it’s a mod that kills the stability of the system, which could need samsung certificates to install some needed components.

What is the solution I found?

Simply put, I have created a whole new “Certifcate Store” (i.e. the file in which all certificates are saved) which includes certificates from ALL THE MAIN VENDORS, BEING NOKIA, SAMSUNG, AND SONY ERICSSON! πŸ˜€

You don’t lose any capability of the system (this happens with the known mods instead), you just GAIN NEW POSSIBILITIES!
Thanks to this mod, you’ll be able to download EVERY NOKIA SOFTWARE (or SE’s one) AND INSTALL IT STRAIGHTAWAY FROM THE OFFICIAL SOURCE (OviSuite or whatelse), using it in conjunction with another rompatcher patch I’ll release, WITHOUT ANY NEED TO MOD IT.

READ AGAIN, I’M TALKING ABOUT INSTALLING SOFTWARE FROM NOKIA, SAMSUNG, OR SE’s SOFTWARES USING THE OFFICIAL PACKAGES, I’M NOT GIVING A SOLUTION TO THE FACT THAT SOME NOKIA SOFTWARE DOES NOT START (ovimaps 3.06 for example)…BECAUSE THAT IS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM AND IT IS APP-SPECIFIC πŸ˜‰

 

THIS MOD CAN BE APPLIED TO ALL SYMBIAN PHONES (Samsung’, Nokias’, SEs’) so spread the word wherever you like πŸ™‚

It is a great step forward imho, because it eliminates the need of package editing, being able to install everything directly on the phone! You won’t be waiting for modified versions from modders anymore! (unless the problem of the app you’re trying to use is not installation-related)

    This means ovi store won’t need modding right?

    Improve camera in next fw… Don’t mind but hx wins only in under clocking and camera otherwise your firmware is the best…
    Most stable one and didn’t flash to other fw for a month coz no problems….

    Let me be honest with you, a few days ago i thought, how will I instal new software, when all modders, leave i8910… Because some software will need to be modded… Now, that’s past, I don’t need to worry, at least with that…

  11. una curiosità,perchè non tutti i programmi per siymbian 3 vanno sul nostro hd,mentre alcuni ci vanno alla perfezione?

    tipo need for speed shift perchè va mentre altri giochi più scarsi non ci vanno??

  22. help me to understand. all certifies you have put into a new package. in this package are there all the certifies from nokia, too? That would mean, we really can start every nokia and sony s60v5 app. Are there certifies in your package, which were never on i8910 before? (so we can play for example the polarbit games).

    is there any chance to play avi/h264 video files on i8910?

  24. Great news. Waiting for n2o5 fw.
    Can u add hx patcher in your fw and do something for the call logs as it gets deleted whenever the phone is switched on.
    And appreciate your efforts for keeping this phone alive as every modder is leaving it and moving to android.

    1. about logs being deleted, I only heard of that once before…I don’t have that problem…
      are you using n2o4? maybe you’re using HX-V11

  27. Sei il numero uno!!spero davvero che sia la ROM delle rom!!…fai in modo che funzionino al 100% Fring e Skype…sono indispensabili per un grande OMNIA HD “Ultimate Rom”.Ad ogni modo,GRAZIE in caratteri cubitali…GENIO del terminale HD!!

    I know i made this question before but with this great achievemen, from you, perhaps this changes your answer. Will i be able to connect i8910 with nokia ovi suite, via bluetooth and cable?

    1. ovisuite will work on n2o5 as it works on other actual cfw. I can’t guarantee that all the ovisuite features will work on i8910 though…I can’t check them all πŸ™‚ the betatest phase will show the problems πŸ˜‰

      1. samsung said there would be fm trasmitor in this phone, but thay decided to remove it, and actually you can activate it with those codes… so i read that trere is hardver in phone…:/ for example, n97, n86 have this app…sorry for bad english πŸ™‚

    I’ve tried a lot, tried out patches and everything off the net but none of that worked. During my search, I found that HX V3-16 / 17 had this mod. Could you please add it to n205? I really need it. Thanks a million!

  37. sto seguendo con attenzione i progressi nella preparazione della n2o5. penso che sia giusto aspettare per vedere in uscita un capolavoro. avrei perΓ² una domanda da farti da esperto in materia a proposito della ovisuite ma anche di samsung kies. col mio pc ce windows 7 non riesco a far rilevare il telefonino da questi due programmi. sai come si puΓ² fare? o dipende da windows 7?!?

    1. Sun Virtual Machine etc etc etc, W7 non ce la farΓ  mai in modo nativo… perchΓ© la mamma Samsung non ha fatto lavoro necessario per farlo andare da Vista in poi…

      1. Take your time, no need to rush things, and make a “mess” in the process, I hope you’ll find many solutions, for other problems/handicaps, that this OS, has.

  49. i installed on my i8910 qtmobility version for S3 “qt-mobility-symbian-1.1.0-symbian3-nokia-signed.sis” – installation, rom upgrade [sa, ru]. now i want to roll back to S60 qtmobility but i can’t uninstall or update this file. any clue for fixing the problem πŸ™‚
