about new firmware and new Qt Libraries release (4.7.1)

Hi guys, first of all I want to thank ALL of you for the nice comments you have left in the latest post 😉

I’d like to remember you some things which I won’t work on because they’re unlikely to become true:

– SKYPE, VOIP CALLS, VOICE DIALING, SPB SHELL BY DEFAULT (I contacted SPB guys, I’m a betatester there, and they told me they don’t want their software to be included in custom firmwares), BETTER VIDEO SOUND RECORDING, KINETIC SCROLLING IN STANDARD VIDEO PLAYER,  FLASH PLAYER FOR OPERA BROWSER, HOMESCREEN FROM N8, CALL RECORDING,…

Keep on posting ! 😉 But please don’t ask for impossible things such as the ones above 🙂

Then…

Some days ago a new Qt Libraries package was released from Qt guys! 🙂 Qt has now reached version 4.7.1 and Qt Mobility has reached v1.1.0!!! 🙂 It’s getting more and more powerful 🙂

The official qt_installer.sis package is now compatible with i8910 too (since 4.7final), so now we don’t need any custom installer! 🙂

Here’s the package, feel free to download it, and try all Qt symbian software you know! 🙂

INSTALLING 4.7.1 WILL BREAK THE FAENILATOR (another qt bug) , SO IF YOU NEED THE FAENILATOR DON’T UPDATE YOUR QT LIBRARIES….

THE NEW FAENILATOR WILL BE FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH NEWER QT VERSION OF COURSE.

  2. Hi Faenil, first of all I would like to start with the usual thank you for your work, and good luck with the hacking of n8 (altough i’m staying with my i8910 ) , maybe in the future we can port it to omnia hd 😉
    But untill that glorious day, there are a couple of things that would make s60v5 better like :
    -romanian language
    -having the ability to choose exposure time
    -the ability to change the songs with the volume buttons ( maybe possible now with QT ? )
    Maybe besides the usual cfw , we could have one that is more optimized for SPB ?
    I appreciate your work as always and I still have hope that some day you and Andy will stop this war that is imho something that doesn’t really give benefit to either side , cookers or users.
    Anyway don’t neglect your private life for these phones, as it is more important than this !

  4. Finalmente possiamo installare qualcosa che non necessita di nessuna modifica ;D
    Queste nuove Qt si possono sovrascrivere alle precedenti installate? O vanno prima rimosse le altre?

    1) Auto-orientamento per le foto fatte in verticale;
    2) Squillo di una chiamata nelle cuffie se si sta ascoltando musica;
    3) Landscape di symbian 3;
    4) Kastors con dissolvenze come l’apertura del menù dell’n8;

    Ovviamente sono idee e non so se sono realizzabili; Buoni colpi di genio!!! xDxD ciauz!

  8. Ciao Faenil e prima di tutto grazie per l’ottimo lavoro. A me le cose che piacerebbe avere sono: la possibilità in impostazioni fotocamera di poter regolare finemente e non in posizioni predefinite saturazione, contrasto e nitidezza perchè portando ad esempio nitidezza a +1 ne consegue spesso troppo rumore; sarebbe utile poterlo regolare in maniera continua magari in una scala da -10 a +10. Poi mi piacerebbe poter scegliere come sul nokia 5230 di mio figlio quale browser impostare come predefinito per evitare che vada su quello di serie ogni volta che ci vai tramite link in sms o mail, e poi se si può fare in modo che il browser di serie ti permetta di scegliere dove effettuare il download. Grazie per l’attenzione e …. continuo a preferire ROM con i piedi ben piantati per terra …. serie N per interderci. Ciao.

Ciao, se vuoi cambiare browser di default devi rimediare FileBrowser della Nokia (preinstallato sulle ultime ROM HX; scusa Faenil, nn sto facendo pubblicità, solo cercando di aiutare dando indicazioni 😉 con la guida possibilmente, e con qll cambiare appunto le apps di default x le varie estensioni dei files

      1. se non vuoi fare pubblicità allora devi notare che c’è già FileBrowser nella n2o4, e c’è sempre stato in tutti i miei fw (se non erro)

Scusa ma nn sapevo che c’era FileBrowser nelle tue ROM xké qnd l’ho provate ero proprio agli inizi col cell e nn conoscevo tutte le apps… Cmq veramente stavo solo cercando di specificare meglio possibile il commento x far capire a ql app mi riferivo e nn stavo facendo né ironia né pubblicità, seriamente. Ho trovato la guida di FileBrowser, in Inglese, e ho letto che si possono cambiare le associazioni dei files con le apps e allora stavo solo cercando di dare una mano.

    una cosa che posso consigliarti per il firm nuovo è questa:
    una cosa che odio un pò è che quando scrollo tipo mess o rubrica per uscire devo premere esci 2 volte… la prima stoppa lo scrol, al secondo esce…
    è una super cavolata ma è una cosa che nessuno ha chiesto xD
    un altra cosa importante è il bug apertura applicazioni…
    e una cosa comoda che potresti realizzare… è il passaggio da gsm a umts/hsdpa automatico quando ci si connette ad esempio in wap… (io tengo sempre in gsm per risparmiare batteria ma quando navigo in wap devo passare da gsm a umts..)
    poi nn so… le tue rom sono sempre fantastiche… 😀

    gli effetti della n2o4 sono belli ma integrerei anche un effetto ruotazione… velocizzando un pò l’effetto di aperrura messaggi/rubrica ecc
    e un altra cosa noiosa è che quando ascoltiamo in cuffia se si riceve un mess si attiva la musica in altoparlante… (forse solo a me xD)

    why call recording is impossible? does it need extra hardware?!!!
    what about autofocus during recording?

    Please solve above problems. I think You can do it with Hyper if you want.
    so Please create a poll and tell us what will be possible in i8910.

    1. What is wrong with you? He stated what CAN NOT BE ACHIEVED, so deal with it or turn your head at HX and brag about that on his blog.

      He can do it with ‘Hyper’ – WAKE THE F00K UP and stay awake net time you think ‘smart’ like this. Inform yourself before proposing nonsense ideas to one genuine modder. Join with HX? What for? so he can have bugged CFWs? Or so he should PAY money for 1 feature to a greedy bloke? Get a life already…

      Why this and why that? If you’re not into whole smartphone or symbian phones and you’re not an advanced user but mere bloke with money, then go and google your stuff..

      I’m sick of ignorants tending to ask every single sh1t that comes on their mind for the sake of their own ignorance.

      In other words, you don’t need a smartphone at all… buy yourself a fancy gold plated diamond embedded Vertu phone instead.

  14. —LA POSSIBILITA’ DI CAMBIARE CANZONE TENENDO PREMUTO UN TASTO (TIPO TIENI PREMUTO VOL UP->AVANTI, TIENI PREMUTO VOL DOWN -> INDIETRO)

    — L’APERTURA “ISTANTANEA” (VELOCE) DELLA CARTELLA CON LE APP, SE NON SBAGLIO HX HA GIà IMPLEMENTATO UNA COSA DEL GENERE MA IO LA VORREI SUL TUO FW

    spesso uso il cell per ascoltare la musica con le cuffie ed è odioso dover sempre sbloccare e usare il touch. inoltre le cartella app ci mette dei secondi ad aprirsi con n2o3 (è la norma ma da quanto avevo sentito hx ha risolto già qualche fw fa)

    ho ancora la n2o3 ma se almeno una delle 2 cose me la fai passo alla prossima

    dimmi che la prima non è impossibile 😥

    Can you make it possible to highlight multiple files and delete, move or copy them.

    Why isn’t this possible in Omnia HD!? You get pretty tired of selecting 50 images and moving them to an individual folder …

    Any tips & tricks?!

I would love to see modded installation of latest QT libs, as default Nokias one is chopping off like 7MB more of C drive, as for the rest usual apps are working , but this time WikiTude v5 for Nokia s60v5 is not running at all, though it can be installed with slight modification of installation package.

    Could it be done so QT is not installing everything on C drive, like it was on modded QT 4.7(0) beta version?
